Draw the chain of decisions.
Identify whether your next purchase depends on sale proceeds, financing approval or the timing of possession. Talk with your lender about available options and with your agent about proposed contract conditions.
Keep a shared calendar.
Track the deadlines in each signed agreement separately. Include inspections, document requests, closing arrangements and moving plans. Record who will confirm each date and what remains uncertain.
Plan for imperfect timing.
Discuss how you would handle a delayed closing or a gap between possession dates. Temporary housing or storage may be relevant, but availability and costs need to be checked for your circumstances.
Review the whole picture before accepting terms.
A change in one transaction can affect the other. Revisit the timeline and financial assumptions before agreeing to a new date, contingency or commitment. Seek legal and lending advice for those parts of the decision.
